7th Grade Research Project

WHOSE LIFE IS IT?

Dramatic Interpretations of Historical Figures

Biography/Autobiography Book Report

Each student will select and research one famous person. The student will present this person to the class by personifying that person (you will pretend you are that person when you address the class).

Where will you get the information? You may use one of the library books from the classroom. Other sources of information will be the public library, the internet, encyclopedias, magazines, etc. You are required to site your sources -tell me where you got your information.

How will you present your information?

A. You will make a poster about the person. Make sure you include:

(1)   Full name of historical figure

(2)   Place and date of birth

(3)   Accomplishments – What is your historical figure best known for?

(4)   A list of five adjectives to describe the person

(5)   Date, place, and circumstances of death

WORTH 50 POINTS

B. You will take the information you have and present it in a 3 minute dramatic interpretation. You will pretend you are the historical figure and you will talk about “yourself.”  You will need to have one prop to use during your presentation. Example: If you were Abe Lincoln, you could make a top hat. If you are Georgia O’Keefe, you may want to talk while holding a paint brush. THE PROP SHOULD BE SOMETHING YOU CAN MAKE OR BORROW FROM HOME. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON A PROP.

WORTH 50 POINTS                                                              A + B = 100 Possible Points

We will present our historical figures on April 29th and 30th. You will draw numbers out of a hat on April 28th  to see the order in which they will be presented.

Be prepared and have fun with this project!
