Student's in grades 1 - 5, are assessed at the beginning of the school year by taking the STAR Reading and STAR Math test to determine their individual grade level. This allows their teacher to know what level of reading and math each student is on at the beginning of the school year. Student's are tested again before Christmas, and in May,  to determine if their reading and math levels have improved. Results from each test are printed, and will be kept in a student portfolio. The portfolio will follow the student throughout their years at Keplar Elementary.
