Why did you choose to become a teacher?
To make a difference, to mold young minds, etc.
Actually, students that I tutored talked me into it. I love to watch the "light" come on when students grasp a new concept.
What is the most challenging part about teaching?
Motivating students who don't think education is important.
Your advice to the upcoming freshman:
Keep in mind that the next four yeras will affect the rest of your life. Take your classes seriously, but not your friends.
What class or classes do you teach and what will the class be studying and learning?
Geometry: Euclidean plane and solid geometric concepts.
How much and what kinds of homework can your students expect?
Practice is an essential element in learning math. I give students time to at least get started on their homework in class. What they do not finish is for homework.
Special Projects that will be completed throughout the semester: Various projects as assigned in class. These may or may not include: fractals, tessellations, machine design, coordinate drawings, and/or building models of geometric solids.
What is the best way for your students to communicate with you?
Talk to me during class or come by to see me after school.
Do you offer tutoring? If yes, when and where:
Yes, my classroom every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:00pm
